  • One of the main stages in the digital image processing is edge detection process, with the process object with the boundary between the background can be determined properly. Edge detection aims to improve the appearance of the boundary line of an area or object in the image and improve and change the image. There are many edge detection methods are currently known, in this study the edge detection method used is the Prewitt, Sobel, Canny and Roberts. Image analysis is a method of digital image processing. The process is done in detecting edges starting from the original input image will then be converted to grayscale images, threshold and method of Sobel, Prewitt, Canny and Roberts. The parameters of comparison used is visually and from the number of white pixels contained in the image of the edge detection. The device used in this paper is MATLAB 7.0 Writing is about comparison of the results with different methods of edge detection operators using Matlab. By comparison with the results of the four methods, it can be concluded that the method of Canny gives good results compared to the Prewitt, Sobel, and Roberts.
