  • Currently culinary themed programs become a phenomenon among the people. Cooking has now shifted into a lifestyle trend. One of the programs that the public interest is cooking MasterChef Indonesia on RCTI. This study aims to determine the desired gratifications (Gratifications Sought) with gratifications obtained (Gratifications Obtained) audience watching MasterChef Surabaya in Indonesia on RCTI. In this study using the theory of Uses and Gratification because basically every human being has a basic need and audiences are actively choosing media to meet their needs so as to get gratifications from the use of such media. The method used is descriptive quantitative sampling techniques used in this study is purposive sampling. The results showed that overall there was gratifications perceived audience of four motifs in media consumption are: motif information, personal identity, personal relationship and diversi. This needs a lot more than that gratifications obtained. In other words, all individual needs can be met with a program to watch the talent show MasterChef Indonesia on RCTI of all motives.
