- The design of the 3D mix 2D Animated Movie of the flag-ripping incident at the Hotel Yamato tells about the struggle of arek arek-Surabaya against the invaders. The design of this animated movie was made with the purpose of introducing and maintaining the story of Indonesia national struggles for the young generation that is lost due to the competition with heroic stories from outside Indonesia. The younger generation in this modern era prefer animated films, but there has been animated film about the national history of Indonesia. The design of this animated film using 3 dimensional techniques combined with 2 dimensions. In order 3 dimensional animation to blend with two dimensions, cell shading rendering is being used. The movie used black and white tone to create a classic movie impression, and using redand blue as the visual effect in the design of this animated movie. Animated movie of national history is a new learning media that is more communicative and sharpen the imagination of the viewer. Keywords : Animated film, 3D mix 2D, history
