- The research on legal protection for purchaser in car sales transaction by indent in the town of Yogyakarta is empirical-juridical research. The research aims to study the implementation of car sales contract by indent and elaborate the legal protection for purchaser in car sales. This research is conducted in the town of Yogyakarta by using both library research to obtain secondary data and field research to obtain primary data. The determination of sample is carried out by purposive sampling. The research result is analytical-descriptive. The research results reveal that the implementation of car sales contract by indent in the town of Yogyakarta is conducted in systematic mechanism, yet there are lot of deviations in practice. The legal protection for purchaser in new car sales contract by indent is not going effectively yet. Purchaser rights as consumer are still unprotected well either in contract phase or in the contract implementation phase. It is caused by several things as follows: purchaser is in subordinate position to seller so that purchaser has no balanced bargaining power, the dealer’s domination to purchaser both economically or psychologically as well as the lack of peoples’ understanding and awareness to their rights which they should acquire.
