- Mosque is an important building for Moslems. It’s a place where Moslems do almost all of their Islamic activity. Most of them are pray and speech, which need the clarity of the sound. Those activities can be done much better if the mosque has a better quality of room acoustic. The form of a room influences the path of the sound inside the room. The objective of this research is to find out the influence of the ceiling form of a mosque toward the quality of room acoustic, especially to the clarity of sound inside the room. The acoustic parameter that has been seen is reverberation time (RT) and early decay time (EDT). This research is done to the three mosques that have different ceiling form and three of them are located in the housing area in Surabaya. This location will limit the background noise level. The different ceiling forms are crown, dome, and flat. The method that has been used was measuring the acoustic room in the mosque. This research results the quality of room acoustic in the mosques. It says that the difference of ceiling form influences the quality of room acoustic, especially to the reverberation time (RT) and early decay time (EDT).
