This setback wa caused by external and internal factors of the Minangkabau people themselves. The values are starting to be forgotten and are getting left behind by the times. However, the values the exist in the silek are repakaget by Arif Malinmudo in the film Surau and Silek. this film presents again the assence if silek teaching, namely prayer, selawat and silek.
This study uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method by collecting data with documentation techniquotes. The data will be analiyzed using Roland Barthes semiotic analiysis. The massage ini the film Surau and Silek will explain the meaning directly (denotation) and in the second stage it will be explain the deeper meaning, which is obtained from the interaction of signs and feelings as well as emotions and cultural values (connotation). The cultural values analyzed based on the cultural theory of J.J Hoeningman wich includes three things, namely ideas (ideology), activities (action), and artifacts (works).
The results of this analysis are: first, the value of the ideas contained in the film is that prayer, salawat and silek are the main values of silek, there are aeveral silek cores, there are lots of silek advice, and the author‟s message. Second, the silek activities contained in the film are the firs exercises which contain basic execises, practicing silek in depth, there are silek competition.
