- This research applies the qualitative method. The purposes of this research are to describe the steps and the techniques of collecting data used by students and it describes utilizations of data sources used by the students as reference of accomplishing the research. The data are gotten from 5 (five) Library Science students that have been completing the research. The collecting data applied are observing clearly and obscurely, unformed interviewing, and documenting. The results of this analysis find steps of collecting data process, like starting, chaining, browsing, differentiating, monitoring, extracting, verifying and ending. It creates forms of collecting data; information need, strategy of collecting data, technique of collecting data, media used in finding out the data, and utilization of information sources used by the students.
