- During the Covid-19 pandemic, learning at SD Negeri Pendulan was conducted online. Parents must adjust the learning process that is usually carried out by teachers in schools. Parents play an important role, especially in the formation of independent character. The importance of the character of independence in online learning so that the role of parents is needed in shaping the character of independence. The purpose of this study was to find out about the role of parents in shaping the character of students' independence in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic in fourth Class at SD Negeri Pendulan and the formation of the character of student independence in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, Class IV at SD Negeri Pendulan. This type of research is a descriptive qualitative research. The sources of data used in this study were from Class IV Guardians, 15 Parents of Class IV Students, and 15 Class IV Students at SD Negeri Pendulan. Data collection in this study was conducted through interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques used in this study include data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The technique of checking the validity of the data is using data triangulation and source triangulation techniques. The results of research on the role of parents in shaping the character of students' independence in Online Learning in the Covid-19 Pandemic Period IV Class of SD Negeri Pendulan are as educators who teach students or as substitute teachers in schools, as motivators who provide affection and love by providing support. , as a facilitator, and as an influence (director). The formation of the Independent Character of Students in Online Learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic Period for Class IV SD Negeri Pendulan is very important in online learning because at the time of online learning students are required to have an independent character. The formation of the character of Independence is done by providing advice, direction and cooperation with parents to instill confidence in students, forming student habits so that students do not depend on expecting help from others, and forming discipline in students.
