  • Modification of the earthenware membrane with na-bentonite and Ca-bentonite Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) has been performed. This study aims to determine the strong current (I), voltage (V), and power density (PD) as well as the decrease in BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and the decrease in COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) waste in MFC-GBNa and MFC-GBCa. The MFC system used is MFC dual chamber based on tempeh liquid waste. MFC runs for 56 hours and parameter measurements are performed every 2 hours. The results showed an average MFC-GBNa voltage of 1.24 V with an average current strength of 8,011 mA and an average power density of 3222.16 W/m2. The decrease in COD value in MFC-GBNa was 2915,594 mg/L and the decrease in BOD value was 1479,361 mg/L. Both were greater than the decrease in COD and BOD pad MFC-GBCa. The data show na-bentonite is more efficient as a composite material on MFC membranes.
