  • This research had attempted to describe the teachers’ pedagogic competence in Islamic Junior High School at Gunungpati sub-district Semarang and the improvement efforts the teachers and the schools do to enhance the teachers’ pedagogic competence. This research used qualitative approach. To gain the data were collected by using questionnaire, observation, interview, documentation. The findings of this research showed that English Language teachers in Islamic Junior High School at Gunungpati sub-district Semarang had very good score of their pedagogic competence. The teachers followed some activities as improvement efforts in order to enhance their teaching competence, such as MGMP and KKM. The schools also organized some activities, such as supervise, meeting, workshop and seminar about education and so on in order to help the teachers to enhance their competence. This result is expected to be useful as knowledge contribution and evaluation for students, teachers, researchers, and those people who need information about pedagogic competence.
