The impact of parental income and home learning environment on children’s academic performance at school a study at 5th grade students of state elementary school 2 Banjardowo in the academic year of 2015/2016

- This thesis discussed about the impact of parental income and home learning environment on children’s academic performance at school at 5th grade students of State Elementary School 2 Banjardowo in the academic year of 2015/2016. This research is aimed to find the answer to the following research questions: (1) How is the impact of parental income on children’s academic performance at school?, (2) How is the impact of home learning environment on children’s academic performance at school?, (3) How is the impact of parental income and home learning environment on children’s academic performance at school?. This research was quantitative. The number of population in this research was 31 students and it’s called the study of population. The researcher collected the data through questionnaire and documentation then analyzed the data using two predictors regression analysis to know the impact of parental income and home learning environment on children’s academic performance at school. The study showed that: (1) Parental income partially or individually had significant impact on children’s academic performance at school at 5th grade students of State Elementary School 2 Banjardowo in the academic year of 2015/2016. It’s proven by the value of Treg = 2,238 > Ttable 2,0484 or sig = 0,033 < 0,05. It meant that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Thus, the higher income parents have, the better achievement children get at school, (2) Home learning environment partially or individually had significant impact on children’s academic performance at school of 5th grade students of State Elementary School 2 Banjardowo in the academic year of 2015/2016. It’s proven by the value of Treg = 2,106 > Ttable 2,0484 or sig = 0,044 < 0,05. It meant that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Thus, the better home learning environment children have, the better achievement children get at school, (3) Parental income and home learning environment together had significant impact on children’s academic performance at school at 5th grade students of State Elementary School 2 Banjardowo in the academic year of 2015/2016. It’s proven by the the value of Freg = 4,654 > Ftable = 3,34 5% or Sig = 0,018 < 0,05. It meant that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. So, to achieve a good academic performance at school, must be supported by a good income and a good learning environment. Children do not only need to be fulfilled all facilities, but also a good atmosphere at home, parents’ understanding, love and others. The result of the study was hoped to give benefits to all who be a part of educational institution (parents, school and readers).
