  • In reading comprehensiom classroom, it is important to use reading instruction technique with suitable kinds of visualization media to teach student. Since the previous studies investigated the effect of multimedia on students’ reading comprehension but did not specifically use Listen Read Discuss strategy. Therefore, the current research objective is to know the effect of using Multimedia-Based Visualization combined with Listen Read Discuss strategy on EFL students’ reading comprehension of explanation text. The population of this research was 11th grade students of SMA Walisongo Pecangaan, Jepara, and quasi-experimental design was used to achieve the objective of the research. Reading test was used to collect data from 60 students in both experimental and control class through pre-test and post-test. The result of t-test showed that tcount (5,2235) > ttable (2,0017). So, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. It means that there is significant difference between students’ reading comprehension who were taught using multimedia-based visualization combined with listen read discuss in experimental class and students who were not taught using multimedia-based visualization combined with listen read discuss in control class. It can be concluded that using multimedia-based visualization combined with listen read discuss strategy is effective to teach reading comprehension of explanation text.
