- The pandemic of COVID-19 made schools in Indonesia implement online or distance learning as an alternative solution to conduct learning process with students during pandemic. This study aimed to investigate the strategies of the English teacher at MTs Fatahillah Semarang in implementing English online learning. This study took one English teacher as a respondent and 64 students from 7th until 9th grade randomly. This study applied the descriptive qualitative method. A structured interview was employed to gather data from the teacher about the strategies to do online learning, and a questionnaire was distributed to the students to know the students’ feedback about the teacher’s strategies to do online learning. The finding revealed that there were 3 ways implemented by the English teacher’s strategies at MTs Fatahillah to establish online learning, those were; maintaining coordination with students’ parents, using affordable platform to do distance learning and creating an interesting learning activities. Meanwhile, the obstacles were lacing of sufficient support to do online and students’ saturation.
