The use of clustering technique to improve students’ writing skill of descriptive text (a classroom action research with VIII C students of MTs NU 02 Al-Ma'arif Boja, Kendal in the academic year of 2013/2014)

- English contains of four skills that must be studied by high school students. They are listening, reading, speaking and writing. As has been stated in school based curriculum, descriptive text is one of the genres that is taught in junior high school. VIII C studentsof MTs NU 02 Al Ma'arif Boja got difficulties in writing descriptive text. The researcher used the clustering technique to solve the problem and to improve students’ ability in writing descriptive text. This reasearch problems are how the implementation of clustering techniqueto improve students’ descriptive text writing is and how the improvement of students’ descriptive writing after being taught using clustering technique is. The research method was classroom action research which was conducted in VIII C students of MTs NU 02 Al Ma'arif Boja in academic year 2013/2014. It was done through 2 cycles. The subjects of this study were 37 students.To analyze the data, the researcher used statistic descriptive. Thedataof this research was collected by observation, documentation and test. In this reasearch,the researcher gave a test in each cycle after giving a treatment to the students to measure students' understanding in writing descriptive text. After the researcher calculated the data, the mean of the first cycle was 73.11 and the second cycle was 78.47. From the result above, it shows that there is an improvement of students' score from the first cycle to the second cycle. The researcher concludesthat clustering technique can improve students' writing skill of descriptive text.
