Hal ini menimbulkan citra Islam sebagai agama yang keras, penuh kebencian, pertumpahan darah dan kekuatan.
Pembahasan ilmiah dengan metode library research ini, akan mengungkap definisi Islam rahmatan lil’alamin. Islam yang rahmatan lil’alamin terlihat dari diri sang pembawa risalah Islam itu, tercermin dari akhlak, perilaku, sikap, ketetapan Nabi Muhammad SAW. Maka sepantasnyalah bagi pengikut ajaran Islam mengikuti perilaku sang pembawa risalah Islam yang rahmatan lil’alamin.
Allah mengutus Nabi MuhammadSAW sebagai rahmat bagi semua makhluk, rahmat bagi orang yang percaya kepada risalahnya maka akan mendapat kemuliaan dunia dan akhirat, rahmat bagi orang kafir yaitu ditundanya hukuman dan tidak disegerakan bencana yang menimpa atau ditenggelamkan seperti umat terdahulu.
Namun pada hakikatnya Islam adalah agama kasih sayang dan penuh kedamaian. Islam sangat komprehensif membahas tidak hanya tentang jiwa, tetapi juga hati dan nurani. Islam yang dibawa oleh Nabi Muhammad SAW merupakan rahmat bagi seluruh alam, Islam sebagai rahmatan lil’alamin.

ABSTRACT:
The phenomenon of terrorism and suicide bombings that occurred in various places and the spreading of hatred directed in social media for the Prophet Muhammad in a bad stigma tarnished the image of Islam as a harsh, hateful religion, bloodshed and strength.
This scientific discussion written by the reseach library method, will reveal the definition of Islam rahmatan lil’alamin. Islam seen from the self the bearer of Islam's message, reflected from the morality, behavior, attitude, stipulation of Prophet Muhammad SAW. So it is appropriate for followers of Islamic teachings to follow the behavior of the bearer of Islam rahmatan lil’alamin.
Allah sent Prophet Muhammad SAW as a mercy for all beings, a mercy for those who believe in his message will get the glory in the world and the hereafter, the mercy of the unbelievers is delayed punishment and not hastened by disasters that befall or drown like the ancients.
In Reality, Islam is the religion full of mercy and peace. Islam is a complete and comprehensive religion that directed not only for physical need, but also for the soul.
