- ABSTRAKSI: Kongesti masih menjadi masalah serius sampai saat ini, masalah ini meyebabkan<br /> banyaknya paket yang hilang dan terjadinya pemborosan penggunaan bandwidth<br /> pada jaringan. Maka diperlukan suatu mekanisme yang dapat mengkontrol<br /> terjadinya kongesti, salah satunya adalah end-to-end congestion control yang<br /> diterapkan pada protokol transport. Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) dan<br /> Stream Control Transmission Protokol (SCTP) merupakan protokol di layer<br /> transport yang bersifat reliable dan memiliki mekanisme congestion control yang<br /> berjalan diatas Internet Protocol (IP) yang bersifat unreliable. Pada tugas akhir ini<br /> dilakukan analisis pengaruh algoritma congestion control terhadap performansi<br /> throughput, delay, index fairness, loss rate dan link utilization pada TCP dan<br /> SCTP dengan menggunakan simulator ns2, yang didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa<br /> delay dan loss rate pada SCTP lebih buruk dari TCP, namun SCTP menghasilkan<br /> thrughput dan link utilization yang lebih baik dari TCP, dan dari nilai index<br /> faireness keduannya cukup adil dalam penggunaan shared link, selain itu<br /> keduanya juga memiliki robustness yang bagus dalam kondisi changing load<br /> jaringan, namun SCTP memiliki sifat robustness yang lebih baik dari TCP pada<br /> kondisi jaringan yang banyak mengalami perubahan jalur routing.Kata Kunci : SCTP, TCP, kongesti, congestion control, reliable, throughput, delay, index fairness, loss rate, link utilizationABSTRACT: Congestion still becomes the serious problem nowadays, this problem makes<br /> many missing packet and exravagance of bandwidth in network. So that a<br /> mechanism which can control congestion is needed, one of them is end-to-end<br /> congestion control which is implemented on transport protocol. Transmission<br /> Control Protocol (TCP) and Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) are<br /> protocols of transport layer that is reliable and have congestion control<br /> mechanism which is running at Internet Protocol (IP) which is unreliable. On this<br /> last assignment, analysis of congestion control influence on throughput, delay,<br /> index fairness, loss rate and link utilization performances in TCP and SCTP using<br /> ns2 simulator is conducted. We get to the conclusion that delay and loss rate on<br /> SCTP are worse than on TCP, but SCTP makes throughput and link utilization<br /> which is better than TCP and both of index fairness fair enough on shared link<br /> utilization and both of them have good robustness on network changing load<br /> condition but SCTP’s robustness is better than TCP in network which has many<br /> changing routing path.Keyword: SCTP, TCP, congestion, congestion control, reliable, throughput, delay, index fairness, loss rate, link utilization
