Daftar Isi:
- One of the challengwes facing the tuberculosis control program in developing countries is lack of rapid diagnostic test for detection of drug resistant tuberculosis. The combination method of MB 7H9 and Capilia TB is expected to obtain accurate, rapid, and inexpensive result for drug susceptibility testing in tuberculosis so that the treatment of the patients can be done quickly and precisely. The aim of this study is to determine the sensitivity and spesifisity of the combination method of MB 7H9 and Capilia TB for detection isoniazid resistant in M. tuberculosis. A total of 35 pure isolates of M. tuberculosis and H37Rv as a control strain were cultured and drug susceptibility tested by the proportion method according to NCCLS and the combination method of MB 7H9 and Capilia TB at 0,2 Âμg/ml concentration of isoniazid. The bacterial growth were blind examined until 56 days after incubation. Analyses were performed to calculate the sensitivity, spesifisity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV). One sample ttest was used to compare turn around time between two methods. The cost of examination materials were analyzed by incremental cost effectiveness ratios (ICERâs). The combination method of MB 7H9 dan Capilia TB assay sensitivity, spesifisity, PPV, and NPV were 100%, 97%, 83%, and 100%, respectively. The mean time detection from the combination method of MB 7H9 and Capilia TB was significantly shorter than the proportion method of LJ, 19 : 32 days (p < 0,05). The ICERâs from the combination method was (-) Rp. 5.400,00. The combination method of MB 7H9 and Capilia TB can be used for early determining isoniazid resistant in M. tuberculosis because it is more accurate, rapid, and inexpensive than the proportion method of LJ.
