- Work measurement in a footwear manufacturing has become one of an important system for the process of production planning and productivity improvement. Industrial engineers mainly in manufacturing environment since 1930 developed a motion and time study approach to design work method and standard for an efficient working process. PT. Sepatu Bata, Tbk, one of subsidiary company of Bata Limited has been implemented a work standard called Standard Production Minutes in its manufacturing facilities as a base tool for load of operators calculation. After relocating its manufacturing facilities in 2008 from the previous location in Kalibata Jakarta to Purwakarta, the standard production minutes especially in the assembly line is remain unchanged whereas many factors such factory condition and workers are almost totally reformed. The research took place to verify the effectiveness on the current standard production minutes compared to the actual time study. Time allowance and performance rating are also used to determine a proper normal working time. The statistical method of two tailed test shown an overall result of standard working minutes in assembly line is still relevant with the actual time study. However, the work elements are having discrepancies between the standard and the actual which is potential to be reviewed and improved by the company.
