  • Shivering (chilling) after surgery is a frequent complication incidence, and in some circumstances it is a complicated complication. Beside post-anesthesia discomfort, shivering can raise some risks, such as increase intracranial pressure, increase intraocular pressure, pain at the surgical scar due to muscle contraction, and may worsen cardiovascular conditions, particularly in the patients with coronary artery disease due to increased oxygen consumption. The incidence of shivering after general anesthesia is 66 percent.
