  • The research was based on the researcherâ��s experience in interpreting the metaphors used in the film The King's Speech. This experience motivated the authors to examine the metaphors found in the film. This study has three formulations of the problems are: (1) The types of metaphors, (2) The functions or roles of its constituent elements, and (3) The context of their use. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. Data were obtained in the form of speech that contains metaphors. Data were collected with note taking techniques and methods refer to the note. Preliminary data were transcribed. The analytical method used is equivalent ekstralingual compare the research methods of data with elements outside of language such as meaning, information, context of speech and others. Then the results are presented descriptively, described in words not in symbols. The result showed that metaphor was not limited in the used of comparison or proverb. The research showed that metaphor was living in the humanâ��s daily life as Lakoff and Johnsonâ��s theory (1980:3). The observation of types, Functions or roles of its constituent elements, and the context of metaphors in the research, hopefully extended the readerâ��s horizon in comprehend as well as interpret the metaphors. The result found: (1) Type of metaphor that widely used on the movie was the ontological metaphor. Itâ��s followed by the structural metaphor. Then, the orientasional metaphor was identified as the rarely metaphor used. (2)First, The elements of Source Domain (SD) were SD strength
