  • Hajj wass a religious ritual that has been there for so long, starting from the time of Prophet Ibrahim who was recognized as the father of divine monotheistic religions such as Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Within Islam itself, the pilgrimage to the autonomous pillars (arkanul alâIslam), binds its adherents to carry harmony to Mecca once in their lives (mandatory), especially for those who could be freed from the burden of the material and social, economic, psychological, and others. By using the theories of cultural pilgrimage studies see how the current developments, contextualization and social dynamics of the changing religious practices make it full of a variety of multiâmainly economicâpolitical interests. Space shift from ethical to estetisation pilgrimage, from religious ritual to ritual culture, from rationality to rationality to the goal value, of the worldly asceticism to the hereafter and so on, are the dynamics of the 21st century pilgrimage. Haji then entered the vortex of globalization faced paced commodification, and commodities. No doubt, the practice of pilgrimage and then shifted into shape once the economy to worship zone is no longer a goal of developing values and spirituality of the divine, the struggle equivalency of humankind and justice, but rather to shift the domain of cultural performance, prestige, status, image and lifestyle of the culprit, especially ONH plus pilgrims who had now become an arena show upper middle class people, especially in Yogyakarta.
