  • The Internet has rapidly developed into a communication technology that is used by millions of people across the world. The Internet is accessed via computers, laptops, and cellular phones. Technology that is getting more advanced has not only positive impacts but also negative impacts. The number of cyberbullying cases will continue to increase as the use of information technology appliances grows. This research aims to empirically test the correlations of peer group conformity and emotional regulation to the tendency to become cyberbullies in teenagers. The subjects of this research are 7th and 8th graders at state junior high school SMP 1 Samarinda, 12-14 years of age, and have been using information technologies for at least 2 years. The measures used are the scale of tendency to become cyberbullies, the scale of peer group conformity, and the scale of emotional regulation. Data are processed using a multiple regression analysis. The result of this research shows that peer group conformity and emotional regulation are related to the tendency to become cyberbullies in teenagers, demonstrated by F value = 106,078 and p < 0.01 with an adjusted R-square value of 0.702 (70.2%). Separatelyjh, peer group conformity has a positive correlation to and has an effect on the tendency to become cyberbullies in teenagers with partial correlation value = 0.603 and with an effective contribution of 0.637. The variable of emotional regulation separately has a negative correlation to and has no effect on the tendency to become cyberbullies in teenagers with partial correlation value = -0.092.
