  • The objectives of the Community Based Drinking Water and Sanitation Provision Program are to increase the access of drinking water and sanitation services for the poor people in rural and peri-urban areas, as well as to increase healthy life value and behavior by building both drinking water and sanitation infrastructures through a community based participatory approach. The PAMSIMAS Program in Sungai Abu village Kandang Baru villageâ��s, Sijunjung Regency was successfully implemented, which was characterized by the declaration of open defecation free village and the giving of villageâ��s incentive grant for the programâ��s sustainability. The purposes of this study are to analyze the form and level of community participation and to analyze factors influencing community participation in Jorong Sungai Abu village Kandang Baru Villageâ��s, Sijunjung Regency. The study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method. The analysis was supported by quantitative analysis using the Likert scale to find out the level of community participation and factors influencing the participation. Result of the analysis was presented in forms of frequency distribution tables and presentation figures. Result of the study shows that community participation in Sungai Abu Village was in forms of energy and money as well as thought, ideas, and materials given by community in all the stages of program planning and implementation. The level of community participation in Sungai Abu Village was categorized as high, where in the initiation and designing of program, community participation was indirect
