Daftar Isi:
- Acute renal failure due to radiology contrast media is important yet devastating side effect. Intravenous pyelography can cause deterioration of renal function in 20% cases, especially in those with decreased renal function. Iopamidol is contrast media frequently used for intravenous pyelography. In patients with creatinie level borderline (1.5 mg/dl until 1.9 mg/dl), one strategy to cope with this problem is to reduce the dose but still has diagnostic value without causing increased creatinine. The purpose of the study is to examine the difference of elevated serum creatinine after intravenous pyelography between iopamidol 300 0.75 ml/kg body weight and 1 ml/kg body weight among patients with borderline creatinine serum level. This study was a cross-sectional study. Enrollment of subjects were consecutive. Subjects were divided into two groups : iopamidol dose 1 ml/kg body weight and iopamidol dose 0.75 ml/kg body weight. Creatinine serum was examined before contrast media administration and 24 hours after pyelography. The difference of creatinine level and increased creatinine before and after contrast media were analyzed with Students T test with p value < 0.05. Subject characteristics was described by age, sex, body weight and blood pressure. The difference of creatinine level before contrast media, 24 hours after pyelography and increased creatinine level were analyzed with Students T test and considered significant if p value < 0.05.
