- Background.World Health Organization (WHO) (2002) estimates the number of child mortality in developing countries reached 10.5 million per year, (15%) are caused by diarrhea and (80%) deaths occurred in the first two years of age. In Indonesia, the death rate from diarrhea in children 75 per 100 thousand children under five. The degree of severity of diarrhea in childrens in Manggarai largely influenced by the perception of the public, especially mothers who have young children who still believe in local customs in understanding the realities of diarrhea disease in childrens. Objective.To investigate the relationship between mothers� knowledge, attitudes and behavior in the management of diarrhea in infants with diarrhea severity. Method. This was an observational study with cross-sectional study design. eighty one respondents were selected consecutively. The association among variables was analyzed by chi-square while strength of association was counted by ratio prevalence with 95% CI Results.Obtained from the analysis of the majority of mothers of low knowledge as much as 58,0%, mostly positive (82,7%), and who behave properly as much as 75,3%.The results of logistic regression analysis showed significant relationship between behavior about the management of diarrhea with the degree of severity of diarrhea (OR=4.15, 95% CI 1.32 to 13.09). The attitude of the management of diarrhea associated with the degree of severity of diarrhea (OR=3.34, 95% CI 0.93 to 11.98).Education associated with the degree of severity of diarrhea( OR=3,30
