Daftar Isi:
- Nephrotic syndrome is a chronic disease that needs complex evaluation and management. Knowledge on Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is important. In nephrotic syndrome. In nephrotic syndrome minimal change serum IgG level decreases due to impaired lymphocyte function while in non-minimal change it decreases due to probable leakage in urine and immune deposit in glomerulus. This study aimed to determine mean of IgG level in steroid sensitive and steroid resistant nephrotic syndrome. We conducted a cross-sectional study to all children with nephrotic syndrome (outpatients and inpatients) in Nephrology Subdivision in Pediatrics Department in Dr.Sardjito Hospital, Yogyakarta from November 2007 until January 2008. The subjects were patients 1-18 years old that met the criteria of nephrotic syndrome and good nutritional state. Mean of serum IgG level were analyzed with independent t test. Categorical data were analyzed with chi-square test. Significance level p < 0,05. Patients meeting inclusion and exclusion criteria were 28 children comprised of 17 in steroid sensitive group and 11 in steroid resistant goup. Mean serum IgG level percentage (adjusted to age) in steroid sensitive group was 53,2% while in steroid resistant group was 52,7%. . Mean serum IgG level percentage is not significant either between those with frequent relapse and those with infrequent relapse, (53,5 vs 53,1 p=0,075)
