- Background: The menopausal transition is associated with numerous symptoms. Women typically report menstrual irregularity between 2 and 7 years before menopause, coinciding with variable declines in serum estradiol Since estrogen status is known to be an important of BMD. Perimenopause symptoms may be effective indicators of woman�s skeletal status. Severeal radiological techniques DEXA is more accurate than the other. Objective: to determine the proportion of abnormal BMD in women with perimenopause symptoms than women without symptoms of perimenopause. Design: Cross-sectional study. Method: It was conducted in June-August 2010. Subjects were woman aged 46-55 years old without apparent history of diabetes mellitus, neoplasma, and rheumatoid arthritis, use HRT, the consumption of drugs corticosteroids, endocrine disorders, fractures and consumption of drugs or hormonal based on history. Result: The results of multivariate analysis found that the variable symptoms of perimenopause may increase 1.38 times abnormal BMD than that do not have symptoms of perimenopause (RR 1.38
