Daftar Isi:
- Yogyakarta City is one of municipalities in Special Province of Yogyakarta. It is crossed by Code River which part of Boyong River flowing from the Merapi summit at the upper stream. Following the Mt. Merapi eruption in October November 2010, lahar flood was struck several times in Code River. As reported by BNBP (2010), the first lahar flood happened on Monday, 29 November 2010. The flood was triggered by the heavy rains which happened all day long at the upper course of Code River. The floodwater reached 1.5 m in some parts of the riverbank (Fieldwork 2011) and inundated more than 300 houses (BNBP 2010). This research tries to assess community-level of flood risk perception and coping mechanism on Code River by reffering the situational and cognitive factors of the respondents. The binary logistic regression was conducted to examine the causal relationship between the situational and cognitive factors (social-economic characteristics, location of the residents, flood experience and knowledge of flood) and both flood risk perception and coping mechanism. The result show that five variables have a relationship with the perception of threat: gender, length of stay, RWs risk level and distance between respondents house and river and impact level of flood. On the authority level, two mitigation measurements are conducted to reduce the impact of flood in Code River: structural and non-structural measures. Through the public works agency, local government built flood infrastructure such as repairing sabo dam at the upper part of the river, raising river dike and strengtening the river embankment. Meanwhile Non structural measurements including the developing of early warning system called EWWS (early wir less warning system), preparing evacuation site, and held evacuation drill to increase peoples knowledge to encounter of flood threat
