- Working women is a phenomen familiar in Indonesia, as well as Working Mother. But the interesting issue comes from a reality that working mother who a breadwinner in the family. The meaning of work for women who become the breadwinner becomes more interesting if they still have a husband. The purpose of this study was to explore the meaning of work for women who be a breadwinner. This study used a phenomenological qualitative approach to explore the meaning of work of each respondent who has the role of main breadwinner in the family. Respondents in this study were three people who are the main breadwinner women and two informants who is the respondent's husband. Research questions are: how meaning of work for female breadwinner with their role as breadwinner in their household. Results showed that their meaning of work as a form of self-actualization and also build social relationships with the community. They recognize their role as primary breadwinner, but still respect their husbands.
