- Background: Decentralization policy has changed hospital management to be a profit organizated. Banjarnegara hospital then has changed as self funded hospital and the facilities was developed based on market Located near two private hospitals, location of Banjarnegara hospital was less competitive, although its facilities and regulation bring more advantages on Banjarnegara hospital. There are four hillly districts in Banjarnegara that have less access to any hospital, but people remain choose to use inpatient service at hospital in Banjarnegara. This research studied factors that influence people in selecting hospital. Goal: This research aimed to discover factors relates to consumers decision in selecting inpatient service as well as assess the strongest factor related to the decision Method: This was descriptive research with quantitative analysis, using cross sectional design. Data was obtained from sample of 250 people, using questionnaire which validity and reliability have been tested, consisting of open and close-ended question. Results: Data was analyzed by correlation and multiple linear regression. The result indicated that consumer perception on hospital characteristics related to their decision in selecting hospital, while service of staff and recommendation had on selection effect on consumer decision in selecting hospital. Age, number household member, education level, access/distance perception, perception on tariff, and perception on disease had correlation to decision of hospital selection. Logistic regression analysis indicated that variable recommendation has the strongest influence. Conclusion: Hospital in Banjarnegara should consider consumer needs by improving health facilities and provide service supporting facilities, as well as improve service quality of medical worker and hospital staff. Medical worker and community figure is good reference that was important to increase hospital visit.
