- This study to examines the strategies of movement Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia in an effort to build a social movements in Yogyakarta in 1998-2010. The theme is stimulated by stretching the HTI in Yogyakarta in initiating a social movement with a central issue of the Khilafah Islamiyah movement. The idea is highly controversial in Indonesia, because its viewed as a utopian. This study uses a case study design with the locus of Yogyakarta Province, because the province is known as a dynamic province and birthplace of the various organizations of Islamic movements. The purpose of this study was to determine how the strategies HTI to build a social movements in Yogyakarta are framed by theories of social movement building strategies. HTI as a militant Islamic group is building a social movement, social movement requires collective action, and timber movement towards building a network to be collective action to enforce the Islamic Khilafah. To achieve the goal of building a social movement as a means to achieve its main objective, then the timber using the following strategy: First, build and mobilize support for the three models. (a) The pattern of regeneration as a form of informal to expand its cadres in the internal. (b) The pattern of the participants as a form of formal cooperation with organizations of Islamic movements as a form of participation in other organizations to the movement of timber. (c) Build a network of movements to the government agency / private. Second, the framing of movement with the idiom of 'us-them' as a form of image-building movement and prognostic framing. In prognostic framing, HTI filed Islam as the solution to all problems and offer Khilafah Islamiyah as a stateless system. In addition to these two strategies, HTI also use the existing political opportunity in Indonesia Yogyakarta especially those reforms that began the moment of the fall of Soeharto and the democratic system within the political system in Indonesia that led to the HTI can freely implement both strategies. As for the social movements who want to be formed by HTI is a revolutionary social movement, because the movement to make changes in total community that is establishing the Islamic Khilafah.
