Daftar Isi:
  • The production of fatty acid ethyl ester (Biodiesel) involves esterification reaction, especially for substrates high in free fatty acid. This process can be carried out enzymatically using lipase. Germinated jatropha seeds (Jatropha curcas.L) and rice bran (Oryza sativa) are sources of lipase. To increase productivity, esterification reaction need to be optimized. One of optimization method is Response Surface Methodology. Esterification reaction is usually carried out in batch system. But, the problem of using batch system is inhibition of lipase activity by the excess of alcohols. To overcome this problem, esterification will be carried out in fed-batch system, of which alcohols are flowed in small debit into bioreactor. The aims of this research were to get the characteristics of lipase from germinated jatropha seed and rice bran (hydrolysis activity, esterification activity, Vmax and Km)
