  • The efficiency of wood utilization can be reached by using glued wood that is a lesser known species for the make of particle board. The quality of particle board affected by various factors such as type and number of adhesive. The research can be used to information about the characteristic of particle board with raw materials from waste wood that are less know species. The research materials used a wood waste Pupu Pelanduk, Urea Formaldehyde adhesive (UA-140), Melamin Formaldehyde adhesive (MA-204), and Phenol Formaldehyde (PF-302). This research used a completely random with two factors, is a type adhesive (UF, MF, PF) and glue speard (5%, 10%, 15%). The parameter tha measured is physical characteristic of particle board (moisture content, density, thickness swelling, and water absorption), and the mechanical characteristic of particle board (modulus of elasticity, modulus of repture, internal bonding, and firmness press parallel surfaces). The results showed that the interaction of the type and glue speard had very significant effect on the modulus of repture, modulus of elasticity, and firmness press parallel surfaces. The highest modulus of repture occurs in the treatment of melamin formaldehyde type with number adhesive 15% was 293,27 kg/cm2. The highest modulus of elasticity found in a melamin formaldehyde type with a number adhesive 15% was 15581,30 kg/cm2. The highest firmness press parallel surfaces in the treatment of urea formaldehyde type with a number adhesive 15% was 180,70 kg/cm2. The factors of number adhesive had very significant effect on density, thickness sweeling, water absorption, and internal bonding of particle board. The results of research showed already meet the standards of the FAO, USDA, DIN 1052 and JIS A 5908.
