- Coastal area of Jepara regency dealing directly with the Java Sea, coastal area of Jepara regency make very susceptible to changes caused by shoreline erosion and sedimentation, this is exacerbated by the non optimal protection of coastal area of Jepara regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of erosion on the coastal area of Jepara regency, knowing the form of mitigation that has been done by the people and the government both structural and non-structural, and to know the form of adaptation strategies undertaken by societies in the coastal district of Jepara. The method used to determine shoreline changes that occur is to make the process of digitization on the screen and the overlapping stacking the Quickbird image. To determine the form of mitigation and adaptation strategies carried out by visiting the relevant agencies in the mitigation effort and interviewing people living in the coastal area of Jepara regency. The results of overlapping stacking of shoreline changes indicate a process of erosion and sedimentation. The results of interviews with people showed that most people know what is meant by erosion, so much has been pursuing a strategy of adaptation. But mitigation is carried out is not optimal, because mitigation efforts have not been able to minimize the impact of erosion. Policy recommendations is the formation of governing bodies or agencies in the field of disaster in the district of Jepara, and provide counseling to the community to be better prepared to cope with disasters erosion.
