- Consumption of fuel oil as an energy source progresivelly increases with human population and industrial development. Therefore, efforts to find alternative fuels more widely applied. One alternative fuel that can be utilized is biobriquette. On the other hand, pressing Jatropha curcas L. into biodiesel leaving the shell and the cake in large enough quantities, so it has the potential to be utilized as an alternative fuel. This study aims to obtain a mixture ratio of the shell and cake seed of Jatropha using starch 5% and Tar 10% as a binder to get biobriquette complies with SNI 01-6235-2000 and formulate a simple mathematical model for the kinetics of combustion biobriquette. The research of done by drying raw material for 3 days, followed by carbonization process 6-7 hours, screening (35 mesh), mixing raw materials (shell, cake seed, and addhesives), pressing, and combustion test. The composition of the test are biobriquette with percentage shell and cake seed of 100% : 0%
