- COMPOSING THE LOCAL VOLUME TABLE OF MERCHANTABLE TIMBER AND FIREWOOD OF MAHAGONIIN THE COMMUNITY FOREST OF KARANGREJO VILLAGE, PURWOREJO Oleh: Ris Hadi Purwanto dan Wahyu Tri Widayanti Jurusan Manajemen Hutan Fakultas Kehutanan UGM Telp: 081328269635; Email: risuhadi@yahoo.com ABSTRACT Mahagoni (Swietenia mahagoni) is one of commercial dominant trees which grown on the community forests of Karangrejo Village, Loano Subdistrict, and Purworejo District. The research was conducted to: 1) define the relationships between tree height (H) and stem diameter at breast height (D) of mahagoni; 2) compose the local table volume of merchantable timber (Vkp) and firewood (Vkb) of mahagoni by allometric equations. The raw merchantable timber volume of mahagoni in community forests of Karangrejo Village is defined as the ligneous material contained in the bole and branches which both with a diameter of at least 10 cm. ; A census of 3.064 trees were conducted to determine the relationships between tree height and diameter at breast height. The census was done by participatingof the community forest farmers group 'Murakabi' in 2005. The results showed the relationships between tree height and stem diameter at breast height of mahagoni was asserted by hyperbolic equations as follow: = 0,7917 + (m, cm, n = 3.064, r2 = 0,6322). The local volume table of merchantable timber and firewood of mahagoni can be estimated by allometric equations of Vkp = 2,1704 x 10"5 (D2.H)1 0690 (m3, cm2, m, n = 9, r2 = 0,9896) and Vkb = 7,2135 x 10'3 (D2.H)1 0690 (m3, cm2, m, n = 9, r2 = 0,9896), respectively.
