- <p>Background Oral health related quality of life assessment method uses socio-dental indicators assessing and providing information in regard to the impact of oral conditions on the quality of life. The instrument of oral health related quality of life can be applied for the evaluation of the dental health needs and planning of community dental health services. The objective of this study was to assess Oral Health related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) of patient in Ketabang Sidoarjo and Ketabang Surabaya community dental health service (CDHS). Method The study was conducted in Kepadangan Sidoarjo CDHS as representative of rural area and Ketabang Surabaya CDHS as representative of urban area. The participants were 173 patients above 18 years, consist of 88 patients in Kepadangan CDHS and 85 patients in Ketabang CDHS. All of the participants filled the OHRQoL questionnaire, which consist of 25 items questionnaire. Result There were significant differences in patient's OHRQoL between Kepadangan Sidoarjo CDHS and Ketabang Surabaya CDHS. Kepadangan and Ketabang CDHS differ with regard to Difficult in chewing, Difficult in pronouncing words, Affecting in Appearance, Feeling bad oral odor, Affecting in sense of taste, Food catching, Unclear speech, Unable to brush, Feeling worried, Feeling embarrassed or not confident, Feeling depressed, Feeling uncomfortable, General health worsened, Unable to work in full capacity.Conclusion The results showed that patients in Ketabang Surabaya as a community dental health service in urban area feel more impacts in Quality of Life than in Kepadangan Sidoarjo CDHS as a community dental health service in rural area.</p>
