- <p>ABSTRACT<br /> Two typies of adsorbent , i.e: chitosan powder and chitosanbead using shell of shrimp (Penaus monodon ) as raw materials, for Ca(ll) metal ion adsorption. The chitosan powder was made by deproteination, demineralization followed deacetilation of the raw materials, whereas the chitosan-bead was prepared by modification the chitosan powder. Adsorption parameters such as, pH, the energies, the capacity of adsorption and the adsorption rate were detennined. The results showed that, Ca(ll) metal ion was chemically adsorbed on chitosan powder and chitosan bead involving energies of adsorption in a range of27.916-34.48 KJ/mole and optimum pH =6-6,5. Adsorption capacity Ca(ll) metal ion for the chitosan powder were 10,8807.10-4mole/g and 17,89.10-4mole/g on chitosan bead. The adsorption of Ca(ll metal ion on chitosan bead with kl = adsorpsi 8,1.10-3 minute-l was significantly faster than that on chitosan powder with kl = 3,1.10.3minute-I.</p>
