- Banjarese communities which live in Banjarmasin city known as the community with river-culture. They can be recognized from the containers, and their activities are always associated with rivers and become part of their lifestyle. Along with the development time of lifestyle began to fade, necessitating the search again in effort predictions in planning and developing the settlements on the banks of rivers. Search begins from the river banks as container architecture development of a settlement. This study aims to identify the physical elements as part of the architecture of river. banks in the City of Banjannasin. Architecture banks of this river can be identified through I) houseboat (Lanting), 2) alley culture (footbridge), and 3) batang (stem) that integrate with sanitary facilities. Physical elements will be analyzed through the typology approach to discover the diversity and uniformity in its formal structure. Typology re!ers to the concept and consistency that can facilitate society to know the pads of architecture that vdl form one character, character or image. The findings of this study are the importance of turn on and develop the concept of Eco Living Style [hat never existed in the past. The concept of Eco living styles in architecture in the city of Banjarmasin banks of the river is a concept that takes into ,account the environment of the river in the formation of occupancy. From the establishment of ecological housing is what will affect the lifestyle comm~~nitAyn. ecological lifestyle, healthy lifestyle, and sustainable lifestyle, such as river flow should continue to flow from upstream to downstream, and from the past until now.
