  • Background. Comprehension on studentâ��s learning approach is an essential issue due to the fact that it deals with the learning quality. Studentâ��s perception on learning environment is a factor that influences studentâ��s learning appproach. Objective. The aims of this currrent research are to describe studentâ��s perception on learning environment, to describe studentâ��s learning approach, and to reveal the relationship between studentâ��s perception on learning environment with learning approach applied in musculoskletal block at Faculty of Medicine Pelita Harapan University. Method. This research was conducted using mixed method which combines two approaches type. A quantitative approach was the main approach, while qalitative approach acted as facilitatory approach. As many as 106 students of musculosketal block FoM UPH participated as sample. Result. Descriptive analysis showed that studentâ��s good perception on teaching quality amounted 77.36%, clear goals amounted 59.43%, and learning ability acquired amounted 88.68%. Meanwhile 68.87% of sample had bad perception on assessment and bad perception on workload amounted 73.58%. Hypothetical testing done by calculating correlation and odds ratio of each learning environment perception component to learning approach revealed p value > 0.05 which was not statistically significant. Qualitative findings showed role of internal motivation in determining learning approah adopted by student. Internal motivation comprised interest in subject, previous knowledge, and self-esteem. Conclusion. Studentâ��s perception of learning environment is not a predictor of learning approach applied by student in musculoskletal block. Internal motivation take part in determining studentsâ��s learning approach.
