- Series of poly-5-allylcalix[4]arenes had successfully been synthesized. These are poly-5-allyl-25,26,27,28-tetrahydroxycalix[4]arene (PK[4]H), poly-5-allylcalix[4]arene tetra ester (PK[4]E) and poly-5-allylcalix[4]arene tetra acetate acid (PK[4]A). Whether the compounds synthesized can be used as an adsorbent in industry and antidote were investigated in this study. Synthesis of poly-5-allylcalix[4]arene series was performed in several reactions: (1) synthesis of p-t-butylcalix[4]arene, (2) debutylation reaction of p-tbutylcalix[ 4]arene to give 25,26,27,28-tetrahydroxycalix[4]arene, (3) synthesis of 25- allyloxy-26,27,28-trihydroxycalix[4]arene (calixarene 1), (4) synthesis of 5-allyl25,26,27,28- tetrahydroxycalix[4]arene (calixarene 2), (5) esterification of calixarene 2 to produce calixarene 3, (6) hydrolysis of 5-allylcalix[4]arene tetra ester to yield calixarene 4, (7) cationic polymerization towards calixarene 2, 3 and 4. Adsorption of P[4]H, PK[4]E and PK[4]A conducted by batch method, whereas the activity test antidote and safety were carried outin vivo. The synthesis of calixarene 1, 2, 3 and 4 afforded products with yield 88.36%, 78.33%, 44.33% and 84.52%. Polymerization reaction towards calixarene 2, 3 and 4 gave PK[4]H, PK[4]E dan PK[4]A with m.p. of 292-295, 298-300 and 300-303 °C and yield percentage of 85, 70 and 87.18%, respectively.
