  • Sending workers abroad is also an essential part of national income sources and it can boost the national economic growth significantly as well. According to the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, Indonesia in the period 1999-2005 had received remittance around U.S. $ 6 billion with the placement for more than 1.2 million workers. However, sending of workers abroad is also a controversial issue, especially related with those informal workers who are in need of serious protection from the government, and so it becomes an obligation for the government itself to pay attention towards it. The purpose of this research is to know about the legal protection of Indonesian migran workers in the informal sector in Saudi Arabia, to know about the problems faced during the protection and to know about the steps taken in dealing with the problem. conclusion taken is base on the primary data from field research which is compared to the secondary data from library research. Several problems that faced by the informal workers that currently working in Arab Saudi arises due to various factors such as the factor came from Indonesia, from the migrant workers itself and from the employers. In dealing with these problems, the government should make several efforts in order to protect their citizens, it includes legal approaches such as mediation, conciliation, legal consultations, the humanitarian approach as a routine request for consultations, first aid, and political approaches to the government through the First and Second Track Diplomacy.
