Daftar Isi:
- In electrical power systems, isolation serves to separate two or more electrical conductive voltages, in order to avoid electrical leaps or sparks between the conductors with voltage. Oil is an isolating material that is widely used to isolate and cool high voltage electrical equipment. Oil Isolators, mostly come from petroleum or crude oil, that is customly prepared, so that it may have properties as an isolator, but todays market demands a product that is safe and environmentally friendly, to reduce the effects of global warming. This situation opens opportunities for the use of renewable energy from bio oils. Electric breakdown testing Castor Oil as a liquid isolation material at various electrode configurations using gulf trafo oil as a comparator, aims to study the isolation resistanceof castor oil towards voltage breakdown, with variations in temperature and interval distance. The results of the testing shows that there are similarities and differences in the value of dielectric voltage breakdown between castor oil and gulf trafo oil, with different electrode configuration namely plate electrodes, needle electrodes and ball electrodes, along with the change of interval distance and temperature.
