- The research background about â��The Social Function of Church based on the Communicative Rationality Concept of JÃ1⁄4rgen Habermasâ��â�� is rapidly globalization including global market practice which stricken every sectors of people life. The impacts of globalization in Indonesia is government and the people seems to have a weaker characters. That weaker characters of government can culminate in varieties of crises like ecology, poor people, human right, and crises of trust of the people to the government officials. The philosophical study about social function of the church might be provide some solution to solve that crises mention above. This research that used JÃ1⁄4rgen Habermas Social Philosophy as formal object. The material object is Social Function of the Church. The methods a used in the study are hermeneutic and heuristic. The results of the study are found (1) Communicative Rationality according to JÃ1⁄4rgen Habermas in this study is a rationality that oriented to interrelated understanding without compulsion or domination. That rationality often find in the argumentative discourse that lead to consensus. The result of all the discourses are certainty about objective world and inter-subjective live of human being
