- Background: Data and information are strategic resources for an organization that implement the principles of modern management. Data and information used an input to process the decision making. Hospital Information System (HIS) is one of essential components to assess the success of a hospital performance. Furthermore, as applying and hospital performance, it can be seen by the HIS. Currently, the main problem in implementing the Hospital Information System is less skilled health staff in filling out reports and delay to sending reports. According to evaluation of acceptance reports by RL1 through RL 6 at the General Hospital Province, West Nusa Tenggara Year 2007, 2008, and 2009 showed that generally reports that have received incompleted. Objectives: To evaluate the implementation of Hospital Information System (HIS) through initial phase gathering the data up to feedback phase, to identify barrier factors that influence implementing the Hospital Information System by technical and organizational factors at the General Hospital Province, West Nusa Tenggara. Methods: The study was a case study with an explorative qualitative research design which has explored in-depth the process and data management of Hospital Information System (HIS) at the General Hospital Province West Nusa Tenggara.
