- Micro hydro as one of alternative energy source has great potency, yet the use of water is not optimal due to lack of knowledge and understanding of how to harness the water potency to produce electrical energy. Contruction of Hydroelectric Power Plant in multiple location/region have been built, but construction is not optmal, this is due to the lack of Human Resources (HR) who are experts in theirs fields, therefore the Human Resources should be improved. Understanding the PLTMh system will be easier if it is performed by the aid of learning model. Learning model can be a form of teaching aids. The objective of the building of this equipment stressed to understanding on work principles of PLTMh system, how to operate this simulator and how to make microhydro simulator with discharge variation for viewing the influence of output power. This research is a study about designing, constructing, and testing the characterities the simulator. The design of this simulator was referred to the specification from turbine manufacturer. The simulator of PLTMh system used portable open flume turbine TC-60 with capacity of 100 watt. The consumer load of this research was bulb load of 220 V, thus the electrical standard is referred to the specification on service voltage that is regulated in PLN standard /SPLN (Stated Electric Company Standard) I, 1995) for the service, maximum is +5% and minimum is 10%. The result of this research shows that there is relation between discharge and the output power where the discharge increase the generator power increase. The debit discharge variation between 9.1-9.7 l/second and has efficiency of 11.2% in simulator maximum head at 1.98 m. This simulator can be loaded by bulb and has stable condition until 65 watt, but this simulator can finely operated at output power 17 watt. This is referred to specification on voltage variation from State Electric Company (198-231 voltage).
