Daftar Isi:
  • Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lamk.) is one of the most widely cultivated fruit in Indonesia. Faculty of Forestry Gadjah Mada Universtity has 11 provenances of jackfruit: provenance of Jawa Timur, Jawa Tengah, Jawa Barat, Bali, Medan, Pekanbaru, Lampung, Kalimantan Timur, Kalimantan Selatan, Kendari, and Lombok. The aim of this study was to assessed variation of jackfruit based on morphological characters and molecular marker RAPD (Random Amplifield Polymorphic DNA). Scoring and standarization were done on 71 morphological characters. Eleven RAPD primers generated 70 total DNA bands, 40 were polymorphic. Similarity matrix was calculated using coefficient of Jaccard. Unweighted Pair Group Method Using Arithmetic Mean (UPGMA) cluster analysis was performed to develop a dendogram. This data analysis was performed by NTSYS software ver. 2.1. This research that 11 provenances of jackfruit divided into two clusters with similarity coefficient ranging from 49,25 - 76,12,%, provenance of Kalimantan Selatan and Lombok were the most closely similar (76,12%) based on morphological characters. Eleven provenances of jackfruit divided into two clusters with similarity coefficient ranging from 63,33 - 85,71%, provenance of Jawa Timur and Jawa Barat were the most closely similar (85,71%) based on molecular characters. Combination of dendogram characters showed similar clustering (dendogram) pattern corresponds to dendogram based on morphological characters and it divided 11 provenances of jackfruit into two clusters with similarity coefficient ranging from 46,00 - 74,71%.
