- Academic procrastination in writing thesis is a tendency to delay start or finish writing thesis, although ther is no intention to write because of the low subjective usability for authors. The research aims to determine the effect of learning based on selfregulation training to decrease students' academic procrastination. The training program based on social cognitive approach, so that students are able to set cognition, motivation and behavior strategies during the writing thesis. Participants are 29 of fourth-year student who has taken writing thesis since the 7th semester Department of "X", Faculty �Y�, at the Institute of Teacher "Y" in Semarang. 15 participants in the experimental group and 14 participants in the control group. Data analysis was performed by t-test on gain scores. The results show that there is influence of learning based on self-regulation training to decrease students' academic procrastination (t = 3.767, p = 0.001, p <0.05). The decline of academic procrastination in writing of the experimental group is higher than the control group.
