  • Bleaching become one of the most popular aesthetic of the conservative treatment. Techniques are often used in-office bleaching technique on vital teeth using materials with high concentrations of strong oxidizing agents such as 45% carbamide peroxide and 38% hydrogen peroxide. Composite resin is a material mainly for aesthetic restoration of anterior teeth such as microfill and nanofill composite resin. These restoration are often found in dental patients who will be bleaching. The aim of this study to find out the surface microhardness of microfill and nanofill composite resin and nanofil with application of 45% carbamide peroxide and 38% hydrogen peroxide material in office bleaching. This study used 30 cylindrical samples of composite resin with a height of 2 mm and 5 mm in diameter. Each sample was blocked on acrylic resin measuring 1.5 cm in height and diameter of 2 cm and divided into 6 groups, each group consisted of 5 samples in each group. Group one as a control group, group 2 were given application of 45% carbamide peroxide and the third group were given application of 38% hydrogen peroxide. Surface microhardness of the composite resin were tested by using Vickers Microhardness Tester and the results were compared by using two-way analysis of variance. The results showed the influence of composite resin materials, bleaching materials and composite resin material interaction and bleaching on surface micro hardness (p <0.05). The lowest surface microhardness value seen in the group nanofill composite resin with 45% carbamide peroxide and the highest value seen in the control group of microfill composite resin.
