  • Drug related problems commonly happen to children. The treatment of these problems should be prioritized because they have not physiologically been perfect, so the drugs metabolism and absorption are different. These problems cause the decrease of the patientsâ�� life quality, the increase of the death and disablement rate, and also the cost. Lower respiratory tract infection is one of the causes of childrenâ��s pain, and it also still becomes major problem in medical field. This research is generally aimed for investigating drug related problems happened to children with lower respiratory infection in Panti Rapih Hospital Yogyakarta on January until June 2006. This is a non-experiment research conducted in descriptive concept through retrospective data collecting from the medical record of children with lower respiratory tract infection treated in Panti Rapih Hospital Yogyakarta on January until June 2006. These problems are analyzed from the medical record of the patients and then investigated using percentage of the points related to drug related problems. There are 77 patients who fit the inclusion criteria in this research, number of children in patients with lower respiratory tract infection was 55 patients and 22 patients for asthma. The result of research to children in patients with lower respiratory tract infection showed Indications of untherapy does not exist, Unnecessary drug therapy is 20%, Wrong drug is 12.72%, too low dosage is 7.27%, too high dosage is 21.81%, Drug interactions is 12.72% and disobedience does not exist. The result of research to children in patients with asthma showed Indications of untherapy does not exist, Unnecessary drug therapy is 18.18%, wrong drug is 4.54%, Too low dosage does not exist, too high dosage is 13.63%, Drug interactions is 50% and disobedience is 4.54%.
